OVERVIEW

This project grew out of an encounter with the Chilean illustrator Gonzalo Cárcamo and his passion for the classic Russian writer Liev Tolstoy.

My mother, Tatiana Mariz, a Russian Literature professor, and I selected and translated the fables from Russian. Then I collaborated with Cárcamo to develop a design structure for combining text and illustrations. Finally, Cárcamo combined his humorous style and skillful watercolor mastery to create the final images.

This book became a great seller that was re-printed multiple times and sold to Schools across Brazil.
