Books for Youth & Adults

OVERVIEW

These two books present a collection of essays addressing quality standards in books for children and young people.

 

Initially, I was commissioned to design the "Illustrator's" book. Then after its publication, the publisher hired me to redesign the second edition of the book "Educator" with the same visual identity as the first book.

 

In the illustrator book, the image is the key concept even in the typography. I chose a clean, modernist typeface and a stencil style formed by geometric forms to compose the title "Illustrator". The abstract shapes act as a bridge between text and image. In the educator's book, the focus is on text and words. I chose a traditional serif face, Century Schoolbook, and a slab serif to allude to textbooks and academic contexts.
